About the Brewmaster role:
The Brewmaster role will lead and mentor the existing innovation team members and serve as the primary source of new recipe development and existing recipe optimization. The Brewmaster will join a cross-functional product development team that includes Operations, Sales, Marketing, and Finance. The focus of the Brewmaster within the product development team includes; conceptualizing new beer profiles (or updates to existing), designing recipes, estimating bill of material costs, sourcing materials, brewing recipes (or assigning/supervising brews), critically tasting recipes, iterating recipes, scaling recipes, and managing other administrative requirements for launching or updating beers.
In addition to recipe development and optimization, the Brewmaster will join LHBCo’s continuous improvement efforts and will be responsible for identifying process improvement opportunities and implementing best practices across the brewhouse and cellaring operations (some areas of focus include improving brewhouse efficiency, yield, quality, consistency, etc.).
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop recipes across many styles, but with a strong focus on modern, hop-forward beers
- Lead the recipe development cycle, including: formulating, iterating, scaling, and project managing
- Train and mentor a brew staff on systems, processes, and recipe development
- Represent LHBCo and participate in industry and public events as the face of the brewing team, including attending festivals, events, and conferences throughout the year
- Identify improvement opportunities in recipes, processes, and quality
- Implement best practices in brewing and cellaring processes
- Stay at the cutting edge of beer trends and styles, ingredients, brewing science, brewing processes, etc.
- Identify and lead collaboration brews with other like-minded breweries
- Manage recipes, brewing processes, and staff across multiple locations (additional future locations)
Qualifications required:
The ideal candidate for this role is an established, career Brewmaster, recipe developer, and leader with an exceptional, modern palate and expert ability taking beers from concept to completion.
At a minimum, the Brewmaster must have the following qualifications:
- 10+ years of relevant brewing and brewery management experience
- 5+ years of experience as a brewmaster in a brewery of relevant size and style
- 5+ years of experience as a production brewer and recipe developer
- Demonstrated ability to produce award-winning and commercially successful recipes, at scale
- Expert knowledge of brewing processes, brewing science, and beer quality
- Expert knowledge of ingredients (grain, hops, yeast, water profiles, etc.), their characteristics, and how they perform under various conditions and modern applications
- Experience managing at least 5 direct reports
- Experience with project management
- Knowledge of general brewery engineering, design, and implementation of equipment and systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Excel and (ideally) experience with OBeer or other ERP/MRP systems
- Willingness to travel for events/festivals and collaboration brewing opportunities
- Team player with a strong work ethic and self-starting attitude

Line/Prep Cooks

About Line Cook Role:
Lord Hobo Brewing Co. (LHBCo) is hiring full-time Line Cooks in Massachusetts who will be responsible for the preparation and service of pizzas, salads, and other menu items to Lord Hobo standards.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Daily preparation of ingredients to the kitchen manager’s standards
- High volume food production while maintaining high quality & consistent products
- Multitask within a fast paced environment while providing a high level of professionalism & customer service
- Safely store and prepare food at appropriate temperatures and sanitary conditions
- Daily station prep and cleanup including: rotating stock items while maintaining accurate food inventories, restocking for subsequent shifts, sanitizing food prep area & kitchen, cleaning dishes, & mopping floors
- Maintain cleanliness and organization at all times
Line Cook Qualifications / Preferred Experience:
- ServSafe preferred
- Strong knowledge of proper food handling procedures
- Previous experience in a high volume kitchen
- Outgoing and high energy; positive attitude and strong verbal communication skills; capable of taking direction well
- Tendency to clean excessively, and remain organized at all times
- Passionate and aware of trends within food and beverage industry
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including holidays, evenings and weekends
- Ability to lift 50-100 lbs
- Must be able to stand, walk, lift and bend for long periods of time (8 hrs)
- Must have reliable transportation

FOH Support
Now hiring FOH Support (Hybrid - Host/Barback/Foodrunner roles) in our renovated taproom!
About FOH Support Role:
This position will be a mixed and rotating role with a focus on assisting customers & beertenders with general questions, merchandise and to-go beer sales, and bar operations to help generate revenue and keep customers engaged & happy.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Retail Cashier / Host
- Recognize & greet guests at the door and help field initial questions about the flow and operation of the venue
- Sales of all merchandise, cans, and growlers to go
- Retain knowledge about the history, philosophy & FAQs of LHBCo
- Operate point-of-sale system & cash register
- Fulfill ecommerce merchandise orders and ensure of their prompt delivery
- Restock merchandise & par inventory levels, maintain cleanliness and organization of retail displays
- Report tips and sales to beertenders at the end of each night
Barback
- Multitask within a fast paced environment while providing a high level of professionalism
- Operate, maintain, & troubleshoot draft equipment
- Change kegs & retrieve inventory as needed
- Collect, wash, and return glassware for service
- Pre-bus tables on the floor, collecting glassware and trash to ensure customer satisfaction
- Stock customer service stations
- Assist bartenders with any needs on the fly
- Setup & proper close down at the end of each night. This includes mopping the floors, cleaning and covering the taps faucets, wiping down the bar, cleaning the bathrooms, taking the trash out, and ensuring the building is secure & locked

- Ability to stand for long periods of time (8-10 hours)

Production Brewer
Now hiring a Full-Time Production Brewer in our Woburn, MA brewery.
Responsibilities would include but are not limited to:
- Raw ingredient handling, all aspects of a brew day, transferring wort/beer, yeast handling, packaging, monitoring fermentations, etc.
- Operate brewhouse with maximum attention to detail and accuracy (milling, mashing, lautering, proper gravities, etc.)
- Yeast management (harvesting, pitching and counts/viabilities)
- Tank management (gravity checks, trub dumps and dry-hopping)
- CIP and Sanitization on all vessels (fermenters, heat exchanger, mash tun, kettle, and bright beer tanks)
- Mash tun cleaning including removal of spent grain
- Troubleshooting, technical maintenance and by-the-letter adherence to SOP’s
- Maintain an inventory of raw materials & brewery supplies
- Ability to understand and pinch hit in cellar and packaging when needed
- Organize production logs, inventory reports, packaging logs, etc.
- Work and communicate well across all levels of a brewery operation (management, cellar, packaging, FOH, customers, suppliers, etc.)
- Assist with the development of our QA/QC program
- Maintain brewery equipment as well as general facility
Production Brewer qualifications:
At a minimum, the Production Brewer must have the following:
- 1-2 years of experience in a production brewery or brewpub
- Strong work ethic and self-starting attitude
- Good interpersonal skills and team spirit
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- The desire to work in a fast-paced, growing company
- Ability to operate a forklift and pallet jack
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods
- Ability to stoop, crawl, twist, turn, lift, kneel, climb ladders and stairs
- Ability to manipulate valves and clamps
- Ability to read and follow written English instructions
- Ability to regularly lift/carry heavy supplies, like bags of grain and kegs of beer
- Ability to work in a brewery environment which may be loud, slick, humid, and hot and cold
- Ability to comply with safe chemical handling procedures, including personal protection equipment such as gloves and goggles
